The book doesn’t have a solution manual — I tried contacting the publisher to get access to their instructor site but was turned down saying that I needed to be an instructor using this as a textbook in class and so on to get access to the solutions manual. It kind of sucks when you are doing self-study to not have a way to get help. The online courses are very useful, but are not free. The Art and Craft of Problem Solving. Covered proofs, logarithms, trig, geometry, conics, polar coordinates, polynomials, functions, limits great for a precalculus class , complex numbers, vectors like things covered in calc 3 , matrices, determinants, inequalities, combinations, sequences, series, counting advanced , probability, locus, number theory, and even Diophantine equations and graph theory! Seems like there are a few more problems in each chapter.
And Beyond Solutions Manual. This is a lead-in to the remaining odd pages of more-realistic detailed examples. It the artist is too dominating, to expressionistic, the painting can look self-indulgent. He examines the characteristics of a superior painting and shows through examples what makes one picture better than another. It kind of sucks when you are doing self-study to not have a way to get help.

I recently got the 2nd edition and it seems to have some probkem material compared to the first edition. I wrote this review because I wanted people to know that I found Ackoff’s book as useful as Are It is somewhat intensive and if your student is not a really quick learner in the math arena then it may take two years to cover it in such a way that is truly grasped, but once ssolving is covered he will be more than ready for algebra.

Problen Beyond Solutions Manual. It contains very concise but sufficient explanations to the solutions of the pre-algebra book. Gregg Kreutz in his “Problem Solving for Oil Painters” has assembled many of the questions that have occurred to him during his years as a painter. It covers a very wide range of topics and does not hesitate to talk about proofs and mathematical rigor, which are some things that may never appear in the standard curriculum. Rather it is more solvin than not the result of hard-won struggles with all sorts of problems. More importantly though, this is a great book for any high school student to take their understanding of math to the next level.

Problem Solving for Oil Painters: Learn more about Amazon Prime. The many short fables are described on page as making “the creative part of problem solving look either too easy or too mysterious. This is a very useful book to help prepare students for the types of questions that will be in either the AMC8 or the Math Counts competitions. I began to enjoy the book almost from the very beginning, the writing style is easy to follow, and so,ving explanations are straight to the point.
Delves more deeply into number theory than others, but it is so helpful once Algebra is being tackled.
This book can be used with concurrently with precalculus. Competition Math for Middle School. Some of those qualities include richness, mystery, simplicity, and focus.
